If You Think my Hands are Full You Should Feel my Heart

Welcome to Special Needs Sunday!!  Throw some Bailey’s in that coffee, tell the kids to go wake up Daddy and spend some time with me!

I’ve been getting a lot of messages lately from people asking me to share more about our lives in certain areas.  I guess I make people feel less crazy and also make them laugh!  So, I decided to designate a day a week to each one of my pop-tarts!  Since I have 3 kids I settled on Tween Tuesday’s, Teenage Drama Thursday’s and Special Needs Sunday’s.  I am close to professional at failing in all these areas but I’m honest in every single post!

I have read messages from parents, grandparents, teachers and even an Aunt thanking me for a different posts.  Trust me when I say my readers are not the only ones who benefit from these posts and when I get a message saying you no longer feel alone it makes writing them double worth it to me!  I know that feeling all too well.  Half of our family can’t even understand or find a way to relate.  Hopefully you can share these each week and be on your way to changing that.  There are so many extra’s that come with raising a special needs child that no one understands but us.  Most of us live in fear strolling through the land of the unknown.  We never know what kind of battle we will face each day but, when we win one we have the God given right to boast!

Each one of my kids has taught me so much but nothing can compare to what Thing 3 has taught me the last 10 years.  She has taught me patience, and compassion and most of all how to love someone unconditionally for the simple fact that they are different.  I feel overwhelmed by fear and frustration but those feelings get wiped away every time she says ” I Love You.”  I waited 7 years for those words so I think I earned them.  Each time she says them feels like the first.

So, I will probably brag, complain or even ask for your help.  I will either be rolling with the punches or winning.  I’ll be sure to share both.  If there’s one thing I will guarantee while you are spending time with me its that you will never be judged and I will always respect you if you respect me!

Don’t forget to check with me often for new posts.  Share with your friends and family and ALWAYS VOTE!

Before I start my Sunday I will leave you with one last note:

Love this idea. While my boys aren’t special needs in any area that one can see, they have so many medical needs that I think they fit. What you said about the unknown…every freaking day! I love what you said about each time she says it, it is like the first time. I love that. I don’t know her other than what your words tell me and still I am amazed by her.

I am loving your posts; I identify with each and every one of them! I’ve been going through a really rough time with my 12 year old ADHD child lately, and reading your posts help me to know that I’m not the lone ranger in nearly losing my sanity sometimes :-)
